4 workdays till the weekend!

You know it's going to be a long week when you are already thinking about the weekend while you're driving to work on Monday morning.   And to add insult to injury, I worked late tonight.  Blah.  But Monday is over and there are only 4 more work days till the weekend!!  And the the weekend will fly by in the blink of an eye and we will all be in the same place net Monday.

Sigh.

I'm crabby on Mondays.   And Tuesdays.  And Wednesdays.   Then on Thursdays I get a little bit less crabby and on Fridays at 4:00 (because I try my hardest not to work late on Fridays) I'm downright euphoric.

It's so cliched,  but what can I say.   I want to dance for joy when I leave on Friday afternoons.  And in 3 weeks I have a 3 day weekend!

So - The Emmy's.   I can't watch them (or any award show) because they go too late and I need to go to bed.  But I was happy that Modern Family cleaned house, even if the critics weren't happy about it.   I'm not a huge reality fan,  but please - can we just stop acknowledging Amazing Race even exists?  Do people even watch Amazing Race?  And I LOVE that Tyrion Lannister Peter Dinklage won.   He is, by far,  my favorite Game of Thrones character,  in the show at least.    I have other favorites in the book.

And more TV starts tonight!  Yay!

speaking of pop culture.... Can the Salarhis crawl back into the hole from whence they came?

Monday Monday! Can't trust that day!

I want to meet someone who doesn't despise Mondays. I'm not convinced that person exists.

But on the bright side, Monday is over! 4 more days till the weekend!

I think we should start saying weekend like the British say it: weekEND. I'm sure I can get Andrew on board, he loves to spell things the British way for absolutely no reason. He's never even been to Europe. That's actually a big regret I have, I really wanted to get to Europe one more time before I had kids (and for Andrew, it would be the first time!). It didn't happen - I wouldn't trade my girl for anything, but I definitely would have enjoyed seeing England or Ireland for the first time, or even Paris or Madrid for the second time. I know we'll get there someday, but now that we have kids we have to get to Disney World (gag me), Washington D.C. (love it and can't wait to go again!), and there's probably some other iconic American vacation that I'm not thinking of that we'll have to go on, all before we go to Europe. By then Greece may not even exist anymore. (does Greece still exist?)

I can't even seem to get to San Diego to see the Pats play the Chargers this year. Though I can't say I've tried TOO hard to talk Andrew into it, the thought of flying across the country with an almost 1.5 year old scares me. As much as driving 12 hours with a 12 month old scares me. I have no choice with that one though. T minus 46 days!

I just remembered a redeeming quality to Monday. Big Bang Theory is on. BAZINGA!

Wacky Wednesday

There is nothing wacky about today. But Wednesday needs a little pick me up sometimes. It's such a blah day. It's good because you're ALMOST there, the first two days are behind you, but the reality is you still have 3 to go.

This weekend is crazy for us. I am going out with my friend Courtney on Friday for some girl time. I almost never see her anymore, so I'm pretty excited. Saturday we have my niece's 2nd birthday party during the day (she's two?! the fuck?! How did that happen?), and then at night we are going out with two couples and their children. There will be 6 adults and 4 kids, 3 of whom are 7 months or younger. Should be an absolute crazy time, but I'm looking forward to it, but we're going out at 6, which is an hour before BG's bedtime. We have a ridiculously strict schedule with her when it comes to bedtime and voluntarily messing it up scares me. The child goes to bed at 7. We went through some painful weeks of crying it out with her, but now it's a breeze to put her to bed. We go into read at 6:50, read a few books, I'll let her comfort nurse, and then 7:00 she's in the crib. Wide awake. Not a sound from her as she puts herself to sleep. We worked SO hard to get to this point, and I'd like to keep it up. But the plans are to go out at 6:00, so we'll see what happens on Saturday night! I'm still hoping to go skiing on Sunday (DOES ANYONE WANT TO COME WITH ME????), so this weekend is non-stop for us.

Any bets on if I will be still standing on Sunday night?

same old, same old

Some weekends take more out of me than others do. This weekend has left me exhausted and I'm facing a 5 day work week. I'm none too thrilled about that. I don't have MLK Day off - in fact I don't get a single holiday from New Years through Memorial Day. Let's have a gigantic round of applause for corporate America!

The cold snap is over - it was warm enough to snow today and we got about 6 more inches. The temperature hit 26ยบ on our way home from NH, which is pretty much a heat wave. I didn't even bother with a jacket today!

Andrew signed up with Twitter today. I think he will like it, since it's just short blurbs. He's good at that - he can't commit to updating a blog more than once every other month, but I think if he gave it a shot on Twitter he'll find it easy to do. And he can update it on his phone. If you want to follow him, he's ajg818.

thrilling

We've heard countless times over the past 15 weeks that our lives are going to change when the baby comes, blah blah blah. That was news to me, I thought I could just stick the baby in a drawer when I got bored. Silly me. So while, yes, I am fully aware my life will change, so you can stop telling me about it - I wasn't quite aware of how much of an undertaking getting READY for the baby would be. We have barely scratched the surface of what we need to do and I am already overwhelmed.

The bedroom that will become a nursery is already fully furnished with non nursery things. And it's been our catch all dumping ground for 33 months. Before we can pack everything up and throw away the furniture we have in here (anyone want any of it?) we have to clean it all out. We started that adventure yesterday. We cleaned out the desk and shelves, put all our text books on Amazon (at great deals!), cleaned out and re-organized the filing cabinet, and cleaned out my closet. This morning I have literally a quarter of the clothes in my closet that I did yesterday morning. I donated a bag to charity, threw away a bag, put away some things will won't fit until after the pregnancy and stored the rest of my summer things. All of that took over 3 hours. We need to finish cleaning out the room next weekend. How exciting is the life we lead?

Oh, and today we get to look for new TV stand and bookshelves. My weekends are already revolving around my unborn child and I'm not even showing yet.

lazy weekend, my behind

I had Friday off as a "vacation" day. In reality I got up early, the plumber came and did his plumber thing. Andrew then went off to work, I stayed home and played Susie Homemaker and we ended up at my parent's house for dinner. Saturday was up early again, Andrew's brother came over to finish up our bathroom (only the tub is still blue now!) while I went back over to my parent's house to play with Miss Molly, then we went up to Manch where we binged on fries and ranch. That was a late night, didn't get home till around midnight. Today, up early AGAIN so the Verizon man could come. He came, but couldn't do anything. Figures. Then we visited some family, then went back up to Nashua to meet up with Andrew's parents.

I am exhausted.

question

Who decided weekends should be 2 days? Why do we have to have a 5 day work week? Honestly, why can't we have a 4 day work week and a 3 day weekend?

And what evil little man decided to have football on at 8pm on Sunday? Hello, I have to get up at 6:20 in the morning. I cannot be up till 11:30 at night watching football!

At least I have this Thursday off. And I am going to be seeing New Kids again. :)

And I DVR'd Bridget Jones' Diary.... mmmm.... Mark Darcy!

She's just being Miley...

I just bought a Miley Cirus song on iTunes. And I'm not ashamed to admit it. I st-st-stutted when you asked me what I'm thinkin' 'bout.

What a day. Did you ever just have the day from absolute hell? That was today. My father used to say he wanted to be a bus driver so at the end of the day he could park his bus in the bus barn and go home and not think about anything until he had to go back to work. I firmly echo that belief. I'm at home, but I'm still stressed out about work and the issues I will face when I go back tomorrow morning. I want to do data entry. There's zero stress in data entry. I hate working. I hate that I have to work. I hate getting up early to go to work. I hate worrying about work at home. I hate it all. I hate having huge huge issues that have to be dealt with. We are going to Newport this weekend, and I can't wait. I can't wait to just get away from it all, even if we will only be gone for 24 hours! Weather permitting, we are going to try to do all of the Cliff Walk, so hopefully I will have some good pictures!

So what else is new... The Masters were this past weekend. Tiger managed to scrape by at second with a -5. He needs an attitude readjustment. No need to be a whiney bitch, Tiger. You can't win everything. Maybe if every single news outlet didn't hype the fact that Tiger might win all 4 Majors this year he would have been less stressed Why don't you let him win 1 Major first? Anyway, he didn't win the Masters, so he can't win all 4 Majors, and we'll commence the same discussion next year.

So who did win? Trevor Immelman with a -8. (My father was pissed about that - he wanted to Tiger to win. He kept telling Trevor to miss and sending jedi-like vibes... but to no avail. Funny because his father always called Tiger a flash in the pan). Mr. Immelman is from South Africa (and is quite handsome, by the way) and has beat cancer, married his childhood sweetheart, and withdrew from the South African Airways Open to be with his wife for the birth of his first child (hello, Tom? Yeah - you're a shmuck). He's pretty much a saint. At least for now - I wonder how often we will hear his name from now on.

When I slowly woke up this morning, I started thinking about my day. We literally had nothing to do. When we have nothing to do, we have a tendency to do... well... nothing. I did not want that. So I bounced a few ideas off my very sleepy husband. Go in town and play tourist in Faneuil Hall or wander up and down Newbury Street pretending we can even afford to be there, or drive up to Keene (love the in-laws, but this idea went in and out of my head in about 2 nanoseconds), do Sunday brunch somewhere fabulous. We ultimately decided on Sunday brunch and while we didn't do it somewhere fabulous, we did wander down to Cheesecake Factory. Normally I think CF is highly overrated, highly overpriced, and too dark. But it does do a good Sunday Brunch! I wish we could brunch somewhere fabulous, but we're unwilling suburbanites. Aujourd'hui will just have to get by without us (does Aujourd’hui even do brunch?). While in my head I live in an adorable apartment on Beacon Hill, in reality I live in Suburbia. It's okay, my 401(k) appreciates my willingness to sacrifice for its sake. Anyway, I have to give CF an unusual (for me, anyway) rave review. Brunch was really good. Yes it was overpriced, but I enjoyed it anyway. And I got a Mimosa, which is pretty much my most favorite drink ever.

In true Suburbanite fashion, we cruised the South Shore Plaza afterwards (I'm beginning to cringe just typing this out) and we were walking past Nine West when I SAW THEM! My yellow flats!!! I almost died 7 times over. But Andrew completely burst my bubble when he said they were 10 dollars MORE than my Shuffle (a subtle hint that I couldn't afford them after my latest acquisition?) and they had a really big buckle. Sigh.... I had to walk away. :(

So when we finally got home (after running a few
more errands) I broke out my damn Shuffle that cost me my beloved shoes. And I have to admit... I heart it.

Isn't it just so cute? Andrew was suprised that I didn't want pink, but I just love this color. You can see that it's sparkly in this picture (I am such a girl...)
I took it for a run when we got home (had to burn off Sunday Brunch calories). What a disaster. Of epic proportions. I can run 2 miles on a treadmill with no problem. Outside? Forget it. I barely made it 1 mile. I have a long way to go before August 10th. But my cute Shuffle kept me going! I have a terrible workout playlist though. I really need to work on it. I've got 6 more miles to run.

I've watched 2.5 hours of Sex and the City this weekend, getting ready for the movie. Who's coming with me? Girls night? Or boys, I'm not picky! I'll serve the cosmos :)

everybody's working for the weekend!

We actually had a weekend that we didn't have to travel anywhere for any reason. It was really great - but as all weekends are, it was way too fast. My boss let my office go home at 2:30 on Friday to make up for the fact that the last time it snowed during the day it took the majority of the office over 5 hours to get home. That was really nice of him and I went home early and played another hour of Mario 3. I'm just getting through the levels, I know I'm missing hidden stuff, but hey it's been well over 10 years since I have played this game!

Then at 5, I met Michelle at Blue Hills and Andrew joined us when he got out of work and the 3 of us skiied for a few hours. It was actually really fun. I mean it was Blue Hills so it wasn't very big and it takes about 50 seconds to ski down Big Blue, but it was still really fun. I hadn't gone night skiing in years and it was snowing, and just really pretty.

Saturday was just errands and cleaning and relaxing and doing nothing. Then at night I met up with Val and we met up with a bunch of people to hang out at Hennesy's. There was a cool band and I was a dancing fool all night! It had been awhile since I had a night like that and it was very long overdue and really fun :)

Today is homework, laundry, dinner at my parents, and I believe we'll be seeing Miss Molly later. We better, as my mother made me put a seat together for her and it was hard! Those directions don't always make sense. But I am the world's best handyman and I got it done.

So yeah... really fun weekend :)

Lazin on a Sunday afternoon...

What a weekend. My parents moved on Friday. I was really sad when I walked out of the house for the last time. I lived there from the time I was about 3 to I moved out when I got married. Now my parents' house isn't my house anymore. But they live in a really nice place now, and it will be so much better for them. Although, I'll admit that I cried when I left my old house for the last time. It was a really long day too. I got to the Merrymount house at 9am and I left the Marina house at 9pm. Kitty had a very stressful time moving, but he has calmed down, I am told. He has a very stressful life :) So that was my weekend from Thursday till Saturday. Today I went to Maggie's baby shower and I've been doing homework and watching the pats.

I'm making a nice fall dinner: pork roast which has been cooking in applesauce all day, and baked apples. It's nothing really fancy, but there are only two of us. We don't need fancy. And it's really easy to make, just brown a pork roast and put it in a crock pot with a quart of applesauce and 3 garlic cloves (or 1 if you don't love garlicky taste) and cook on low for 10 hours (or high for 5 hours). Core and slice a few apples (very handy to have a corer/slicer for this), coat with splenda and ground cinamon and bake for 45 minutes at 125*. Presto, a good meal for a cool fall day. And, of course, a full glass of red wine!

yet another crazy weekend

I feel like my weekends fly by - probably because they are always so busy. This weekend we unfortunately had an unexpected wake and funeral to attend that took up Friday night and Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon I went up to Burlington with Jenn and Katie and we went shopping! I went to LL Bean to buy these boots
They are hella warm and will keep my toesies nice and warm apres skiing! And at BC football games. Basically there are two uses for these boots, which really don't justify the purchase. But I really really wanted them. And I spent lots of money at Sephora. All in all, a very exciting and expensive shopping trip for me. Then Andrew and I watched most of the Sox game at the Burkes' which was entertaining as always, though since I had to get up early to walk this morning, we left around 11, so we didn't see the loss. Oh well. This morning I was up early and walked the 5K raising money and breast cancer awareness. Next weekend we will be in Keene for the pumpkin party. Yipee skippy.
