Happy Good Friday to you!
Going to Stations of the Cross on Good Friday was probably the highlight of my church-going year. I would always go to the 4:30 service with my mother, and we usually met up with the neighborhood people we knew (this is when there was literally a Catholic Church in every neighborhood where I grew up) and you'd sit there and basically watch a play. Yeah, there was some boring parts, but as far as being dragged to Church goes - Good Friday is not that bad. Unless you really think about Jesus being nailed to a cross and dying. That kind of brings the mood down a bit.
Easter, however, is a nightmare. Standing room only and I swear that Mass is about 7 hours long. But I did get to wear my new Easter dress, bonnet, gloves, and I usually had some sort of pocketbook too. I'd sit there and look for all the other little girls I knew and check out their dress, bonnet, gloves, and see if they had a pocketbook too.
What? Easter mass can be a fashion show.
If you aren't Catholic, or have never been to a Stations of the Cross service, I highly suggest going to one at some point in your life. Andrew still likes to yell "Crucify him! Crucify him!" at random times throughout the year. (I'm sure he didn't actually want to crucify Jesus... but when you are kid, being allowed to YELL IN CHURCH!!!!!!! is a memorable event)
Who's excited for the Easter Bunny? I hear he's bringing bubbles to a certain young lady!!

Happy Halloween!

I have been a terrible blogger this month. A thousand apologies. I will endeavor to be back at my normal posting frequency in November.
I hope you like November's picture. I took it today while we were walking with the family in Marina Bay. I think the foliage this year has been really pretty, but, sadly, it's well past its peak now. From now till the end of May when the leaves are FINALLY all back on the trees, New England can be a depressing place to live. Of course, it doesn't help that we move the clocks back tonight, and the sun is setting at 4:37 tomorrow afternoon. Le sigh.
Baby Girl had her first Halloween today. She had 3 costumes, and went trick or treating with her cousin who was a Patriots cheerleader. Of course neither one of them understands Halloween (obviously) but they were both really cute.
Tomorrow is Baby Girl's Baptism. Not looking forward to it. I didn't want her Baptized, but clearly I lost that fight.
Riddle me this: What is the difference between a Baptism and a Christening? Is this something I should know after going to Catholic school for 16 years?

--> I'm going to see the New Kids in Providence. I'm SO excited to see them again. <--
I went to my yearly Mass today for my grandfather's anniversary Mass. The man who was reading the intentions was going through them and said something to the effect of remembering our Jewish brothers and sisters as they celebrate Yom Kippur. Only he pronounced it Yum Kipper.
Really? One of the Jewish high Holy days, and you can't pronounce it? Yom Kip-pour. This is not a difficult thing to say. Please have enough respect for other cultures that you can pronounce their very holy days correctly.
