LOST and other adventures

LOST....

(contains spoilers)
well, I'm not sure I should even be commenting on the episode. It's been like pulling teeth to get me to watch the past 2 or 3 seasons. I just like the first few seasons better. I watched about 7 hours of LOST last week so I would be able to catch up and watch the finale. I couldn't even watch it all, I fell asleep and got up at 5am to finish it. I didn't like it. Andrew disagrees with me, he thought it was a good ending. Here are a few reasons why I wasn't thrilled:

1. All the unanswered questions. I know they told us that not all the questions would be answered. I was accepting of that. But the only question that was answered for me was who Jacob was. I have more questions now than I did yesterday at this time
- Why didn't the MIB turn into the smoke monster? Desmond didn't - is it because of his freakish resistance to electromagnetism?
- what was that light?
- seriously - MIB didn't have a name? like, ever?
- if Jacob fixed it that no one could leave the island, how come the Dharma people could come and go as they pleased?
- Why was the Dharma Initiative there in the first place?
- What is Ben's DEAL?
I have more, but I think I'm making my point.

2. Jack. Really? It was Jack? When Locke/MIB said to him "don't you think you're the obvious choice"? I wanted to throw something. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Jacob didn't ask him to do it, he volunteered. But Jack? Come on, for a show that has never been predictable that was ridic. RIDIC. Also, Jack was the only one who died? I don't know, that bothered me for some reason.

3. Christian Shephard guided them through the door to the other side? lame. LAME.

AND WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN????

Yay Bruins.....

No, really. I can't tell you how excited I am that they are in the playoffs I can watch neither the SNL in the 2000's special nor the "Enron, the smartest guys in the room" documentary. Yes, I like that documentary. I figure the more I watch it, the better chance I actually have of understanding what the eff happened with Enron. I have read the book. I did a project on it in grad school. I have watched the documentary twice. And I still don't 100% understand what happened.

But tonight will not be the night that Light Dawns on Marble Head (do people get that outside of MA?) because the Broonz are one. And we only have 1 TV. And we already have things taping on the DVR.

So really, Bruins, I'm happy for you. Really. I am.

In my on going effort to not look like a beached whale on my Fun Filled Family Vacation to the beach this summer, I'm still plugging along with my "losing weight" quest. It's in quotes, because I did manage to lose 15 pounds. I know! Go me!! And then they came right back on, right around the same time I decided that Italian subs really are good for you. And there's no reason NOT to have them once a week!

So yeah, the pounds came back.

And I look like a whale.

So I'm back at it. The best I can hope for now is to get rid of the same 15 pounds, plus (maybe) another 5 if I try really really hard. Though I have to admit I'll be pretty happy if I am 20 pounds lighter when I go on vacation.

The point in all this (and there is one this time) is that I am counting my calories.

*** RANDOM ASIDE HERE: If you want to count your calories (and other fats/nutrients as well) and you have an iPhone (and maybe an iPod touch or an iPad - I assume apps work on all of them...) I highly recommend "Lose It". It's free and tremendously easy to track calories and exercise. END OF RANDOM ASIDE ***

So I knew that last night I only had about 30 calories left for the day. I also knew that I would want a bag of my Smart Pop (only 100 calories!). There was no way in hell I was going to the gym at 7:45 at night. So I dragged out my Wii Fit (I didn't weigh myself though. It's demoralizing to see your Mii get all round and pudgy. And nothing was worse than when I was 48 months pregnant and it told me I was obese) and did the advanced step and the hula hoops, and then I turned on the free step. For those of you not familiar with the free step in Wii Fit, you basically turn it on, and it plays a rhythm through the remote and you step on and off the balance board to the rhythm. It goes for a half hour and wants you to do 2400 steps. So it's nothing that will kill you, but it's a good way to watch TV for a half hour. At least you aren't just sitting on the couch.

On it went, and I turned on the season premier of Army Wives (oh, the drama! LOVE IT!) and stepped on and off that stupid balance board for 30 minutes while yelling at the TV because, let's face it, those are some stupid story lines on Army Wives.

Moral of the story? If you ever need entertaining, just come to our house at night. If you are lucky you will get to see a short chubby overtired woman doing a step routine and yelling at a Lifetime Original Series. I guarantee you will laugh.

I was wrong

I have been making fun of my parents for watching NCIS for a long time. Then I went on maternity leave and it's the only thing other than TLC shows on during the day. Once I could no longer watch another show about giving birth, I switched to NCIS. My god, that show is FANTASTIC. Fantastic in the way Numb3rs is fantastic. Every day I watch at least 1 show, which isn't hard because USA has a minimum of 3 shows on a day. Will they find out whodunnit in 60 minutes? Of course they will! Because they have Leroy Jethro Gibbs and his team of plucky agents on the case!

Seriously, if you find yourself unemployed during an unseasonably rainy period, you should really turn on USA and watch hour after hour of NCIS. Then you too can start having weird dreams about Agent DiNozzo.

I now pronounce you...

Andrew grabbed I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry from Red Box tonight. Freaking hysterical. Definately the best 99 cents he's ever spent. And also the best $9.99 he's ever spend on some pinot noir. Good bottle of wine :)

Anyway, getting back to the movie. Loved it. I haven't actually laughed out loud at a movie in a long time. And I haven't drank that much red wine in a longer time.

I might actually have to buy that movie to add to our collection of random movies to put on when there's nothing else on.

I suppose I should go watch the Grammy's. Andrew was intrigued by Carrie Underwood... now it's Rhianna (personally I think it's the name -- anyone with me on that one???).
