Apres Freeb

I first want to update everyone who hasn't been to my humble abode recently and seen my new piece of furniture that my brother and Andrew killed themselves to put together. We finally have more counter, drawer, and cabinet space in the kitchen! And it is the first and last piece of furniture that I will ever in my life buy from Ikea. I'd rather spend more money and have less hassle getting it together. Here we go:

It now has more than just the toaster on it, it has a coffee maker, wine rack, and toaster on it. Plus some random mail, and some mail that isn't so random - we've apparently decided that our tax documents should be stored on top.

Note how it matches the table and the cabinets. My father and brother really really liked that. I think they both missed their calling as interior decorators.

So there you go, that's the new(ish) addition to my kitchen. No longer to do I have to open the refridgerator to get a utensil out of the drawer. This weekend Andrew and I went skiing again. The conditions were absolutely perfect and I think it was one of the best days we both have had. There was a light snow all day that made everything beautiful. It was freezing though (it was actually 6 degrees at the summit)- we were bundled up enough that neither one of us was cold, since we have more base layers, fleece layers, hand and feet warmers than we could ever need, but my camera did freeze. So while I did get some pictures - they aren't great and we could only get 3 on top of the mountain before my camera just shut off and wouldn't start again. So unfortunately, no pictures of me on the mountain, but I did get Andrew. And Blogger is being a bitch and won't let me post any more pictures today. So sad. I love Gunstock. I can't wait to go back. After we left we went to Andrew's brothers house, were we did a lot of chilling and played Spongebob Monopoly. The adults had their own special rules going on. Never have been doubles and passing go been so much fun in Monopoly. I did not win.

That's all for now folks!

I've been tagged

I was tagged by Mo, but thankfully, this one isn't bad.

Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to list 10 movies: your 5 Favorites & your 5 Guilty Pleasures. Then, pick 5 of your friends and tag them. No tag backs. This explanation should be included.

5 Favourites:
1. Walk The Line
2. Princess Bride
3. Star Wars Trilogy (the first 3, which technically are the last 3)
4. Annie
5. Rocky I and II (for the purposes of this list, we will consider them one movie, since they do end and begin at the same time)

5 Guilty Pleasures:
1. any Lifetime movie
2. The Sound of Music
3. Circle of Friends
4. Rocky Balboa
5. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Honestly, I don't have 5 friends who blog that haven't been tagged already. My friends aren't big into blogging, I guess. oh well. :)

Guess who's back?

I know, I know... you have all been at the edge of your seats, checking a day in the life of Meghan every day just waiting for an update into my life, and I am sorry for the lack of posting. I understand that I shouldn't leave my adoring public hanging... my bad. My bad.

Anyway, not much to write home about since I last posted. Andrew and I went to Okemo last weekend. It was..... okay. It rained for the first hour we were there, and that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was the fog. I once raced in a regatta that was completely fogged in, and we had to race towards the air horn because we couldn't see 20 feet in front of us. If there are any sailors reading this, you know how asinine that is. If you aren't a sailor you understand how crazy it is just by common sense. Multiply that by 20 times, and you have a sailor's perspective of racing towards the sound of the air horn that the stake boat is blowing. Asinine. But skiing in fog is just as crazy. A ski race in fog would be better than a sailing race in fog, but that doesn't mean pleasure skiing in fog is any fun. At least on boats you have GPS and radar and such (okay, not so much on the racing dinghies I sailed when I was seriously competitive). I had no idea what was 8 feet in front of me when I was skiing. Didn't know if I was going to hit someone, ski off a cliff, miss a turn, what have you. As the day went one, the fog line rose higher and higher up the mountain, and the day overall wasn't a total wash. It was terrible conditions but at least there was no ice! And then we went back to Keene where I proceded to watch Bridget Jones' Diary with my in-laws. Yeah... not a movie to watch with old people, but what are you going to do.

More exciting news... I won $100 iTunes gift certificate!!!! I'm terribly excited about it. I have never won ANYTHING. But a few months ago St. A's had a contest. Anyone who left a comment on the Saint A's blog was automatically entered into the contest to win the gift certificate. So I went onto the blog, saw a post about the grading policy, I read it and all the responses to it, and left one of my own. Granted the response I left was praising the grading policy of Saint A's... which may be why I won, but I was so disgusted with one of the posters that I had to do it. It was this older guy and he was like "I wouldn't let my kids go to Saint A's because you can't get A's there". In my head I was like "um, no your kids didn't get into Saint A's, you were forced to send them to Assumption, and now you are trying to justify your child's poor academic performance". But on my post I was like "gee, I got A's at Saint A's. So I guess if you study and do your work, you can get good grades. And if I didn't get an A in a class, I guarantee I didn't deserve it". Or I was stupid and took a Baudot class, who was so unfair in her grading policies I still don't like to think about it. But even in her class, I never got below a B, so, yeah, that guy's kids got like a 1000 on their SATs and he was trying to make himself feel better. And I got a $100 iTunes for telling him he's an idiot. It was fun. And profitable.

I am sorry that no one will win $100 iTunes GC for posting a comment on MY blog. But, I like comments too! The next time I see you in the correct setting I will buy you a beer if you leave a comment!! (please note, this offer does not apply to Katie and Val for obvious reasons! he he he)

Lastly, everyone is having babies or getting pregnant. This is scaring me. But..... Andrew and I have officially reversed the Saint A's curse. Thank god. :) I like spoiling other people's babies too much to have my own!!!! Yeah, I was shopping online for another present for Aaron, but the way my life has been going lately he might have to wait a few months. It's worth the wait Aaron... definately worth the wait.

Will travel for snow.

So this winter has sucked for the outdoor sports enthusiasts, such as myself and Andrew. It's Jan 4, and it's about 60 degrees outside. Um.... everyone go out and by a hybrid because it is clear we are KILLING the earth. It's is not supposed to be 60 degrees in January.

Anyway, Andrew and I can't ski if there isn't any snow. So we have been desperately searching for ideas. We can't go to the Killington/Sugarloaf type resorts because they are 3 hours away and we can't afford to stay there. We tried to find a Marriott nearby any of hte big resorts, but not a single one to be found. Our only option at that point was to sit on a bus for 7 hours, through a program that our gym runs. And I was absolutely fine with that, I don't care about sitting on a bus, as long as I don't have to drive three hours home after a day of skiing - someone will do it for me. But I really couldn't get Andrew to hop on board with me. Then we realized that Vermont has slightly more snow than NH. But all the mountains in VT are at least 3 hours away from Boston. BUT.... the ones further south are only a little more than an hour from Keene. :) We're used to driving an hour, it takes an hour to get to Gunstock from Manch, and last year Gunstock was our mountain of choice. So we FINALLY have a ski trip planned! (ski "trip" means day trip, but hey - we're poor. At least we can afford more than Pats Peak now). The weekend of Jan 13, we are heading up to Keene Friday night, heading to Okemo Saturday, and back to Keene to spend the night on Sunday. YAY YAY YAY!!!!! I'm pretty psyched that I can actually go skiing this winter. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for February. I would like to actually use my Gunstock GC this year.

Should Old Aquaintence Be Forgot

Happy 2007!!

My New Years weekend was pretty good. After work on Friday, Andrew and I headed up to Keene. That was fun, we had Christmas with Andrew's parents. His dad loved his new TV and his mother was pretty happy with her gifts too. I got the WARMEST slippers ever (knock off UGGs, but they are really nice) and Gilmore Girls season 6 and a cribbage board and Andrew and I both got $50 to Gunstock! So if it ever gets cold, we can ski for a grand total of $12 between the both of us! I'm pretty happy about that. Andrew's brother was supposed to visit in Keene as well, but the roads were really bad so he stayed home. I'd say Keene got about 2 inches of snow on Saturday. It was nice to see the snow, even though this weekend is supposed to be 56 degrees. Fuck that. I want to ski!! We came back to Canton early on Sudnday and picked up our place and watched the Pats.

Katie, Colin, Chris, and Laney came over for New Years. It was fun, we played some Taboo (which I love) and Circle of Death which I incorrectly called Kings all night. We were not playing Kings, we were playing Circle of Death. :) But we had a good time.

Andrew right before people got here, drinking his G&T and watching The Office. Typical Sunday afternoon!

Chris laughing at something funny. Or maybe it wasn't funny. He had a lot of screwdrivers that night :)

Katie and Colin. Apparently we were keeping Colin up!!

A rare photo of Laney smiling....

So it was a chill night, but lots of fun. Another NYE with the SAC crew. It was supposed to be NYE in Cali, but maybe next year instead :)
