Everybody's working for the weekend!

So it's Saturday and I am not down the cape. I'm none too happy about this, but I didn't have a whole lot of choice in the matter. Oh well, I'll probably head to the pool for the day. I'd rather head to the beach, but I'm not in Falmouth and I try to avoid Nantasket like the plague. So pool it is.

This week sucked between 5 days of work, 2 days of class, heart wrenchly sad wakes, dealing with death, and the freaking heat. Next week should be better. Only 4 days of work - still 2 days of classes but hopefully no unexpected deaths. At least I know that if there is a heaven, Sheila is in the front row. Hopefully when it's my turn to go, she can put in a good word for me :)

Last night I accompanied Andrew, Andrew, and Matt to the O.A.R. concert. They were on stage for about 2 hours and 15 minutes and I knew exactly 2 songs. I people watched mostly. I was astounded by what 15 and 16 year olds were wearing and how wasted these kids could get. Maybe I was sheltered, but when I was 15 and my friends and I went to the Bush concert, one of our Dad's went. That was the only way we were allowed to go. After last night, I'm glad I had the upbringing that I did and the friends that I did. There is no need for kids to act the way they did last night. Parental supervision. It's a good thing. Maybe your teeneger won't end up drunk, high, and pregnant at 16 if you set some rules once in a while.

Hopefully the average age at Goo Goo Dolls tonight won't be 19.5

Switching topics, I want these pants.

I really want a pair of red pants for fall. These are from J. Crew - the Hertitage Tap Chino trousers. They are a lot more dressy than they appear to be here. However I have an agreement with myself, because being from J. Crew they are a little more expensive than I would normally spend on pants. And I don't want to look like an elephant in red pants. Hence my agreement with myself! I should be able to have them by the beginning of September. As I know you will all be sitting on the edge of your chairs, I will let you know the result, if I am able to get them or not. I think I will need a new shirt to go with them too. But first I need to purchase the pants and then I can worry about a shirt.

Okay, that was Meghan's fantasy shopping trip for the day.

Training camp started yesterday. Branch didn't show up. Normally I'm not all for professional players whining that their millions aren't enough, but we need all the superstars we can get this year. We lost some good people after last season, and I don't want to lose Branch either. Give him his money. We need a cohesive team this year and he needs to be at camp. Stop screwing him Even though he's getting millions, he is getting screwed.... don't offer him a deal to get most of his money at the end of it. JUST PAY HIM AND STOP ACTING LIKE THE OWNERS OF THE BRUINS!! YOU ARE THREATENING THE SUCCESS OF MY TEAM! MY BOYS NEED MONEY IN ORDER TO PLAY. Spoiled as they are, I need one big happy and talented team playing on Sunday afternoons for my enjoyment.

Andrew's birthday is coming up. If you know what the fuck I can get him let me know. I'm at a loss this year. I've got zero ideas. I need some help.

It ain’t fair you died too young
like a story that had just begun…

Never has Kenny Chesney’s lyrics meant this much to me. A childhood friend of mine died last week. I left childhood behind a long time ago and sadly, I lost touch with a lot of my friends. And I lost touch with a family who literally opened their doors for me at all hours of the day and was a huge part of my childhood. Tomorrow I have to go to wake and reconnect with the family that had huge part in raising me and tell them how sorry I am that their sister and daughter was tragically taken away from them at too young an age. I’m sorry that I allowed myself to lose touch, and that missed out in the last ten years of her life. I’ll never understand why innocent 23 year olds who had bright futures and people who love them have to die.

Sunday Bloody Sunday!

Okay so there is nothing bloody about today. But it is Sunday. So therefore I stick by my lyric.

I would like to take a moment to mention something to you all. UMass Boston is a commuter school. That means there are no dorms and no one lives on campus. Which means a good majority of people DRIVE to campus to attend their classes. However, the powers that be, namely the idiotic chancellor who should ROT IN HELL, have decided to close the parking garage and to reopen it - never. Their reasoning? It would cost $150 million dollars to fix it. Their advice to students? Take the T. Hi, um, I live in Canton. I would have to take the commuter rail home. At 9:00 at night, that would take me hours upon hours to do. I don't think so. This parking garage has never been safe, as poor quality cement was used to make it. Senators actually went to jail over this, since there were kickbacks, backroom deals, and other illegal activities involved with the construction of the campus. Anyway, the parking garage holds up 5 buildings. So instead of fixing it they are just closing it and pretending that it won't kill people. Riiight. Not to mention that there is no longer parking at UMass. They are talking about using valet parking. What the fuck people. Use some common sense. YOU NEED TO FIX THE PARKING GARAGE BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T, THE BUILDING COULD COLLAPSE AND THERE US NO PLACE TO PARK.

I hate that school. hate hate hate hate hate.

Does Everybody Know What Day It Is???

It's FLEX DAY! Yay! Whoo hoo! :)

God, life is good when you are on flex time. Yesterday was my Flex day eve and it was pretty enjoyable. Andrew and I got through 41 Thank You's. They will hopefully be completely done and mailed next week. That's the goal anyway. You may not see them until Christmas, but the lofty goal is next week.

On a sad note, my favorite Family Guy clip ever has been mysteriously deleted off the DVR. It was part of a pretty stupid episode - Peter tells the Griffin family history because they are locked in a panic room and think they are going to die (well Meg is downstairs with the robbers) but towards the end Peter admits that he never liked The Godfather. I think that scene is my all time favorite Family Guy moment. Andrew and I quote it to each other all the time :) But, alas, it's gone! Neither one of us deleted it, so I guess the great DVR god decided we were watching it too much. Well DVR god, this is what I have to say to you: I love The Money Pit. That is my response to that statement". ROBERT DUVALL!

Okay, I'm done. But I'm still sad about it. My mother and I are getting a mani/pedi today. I am extremely excited about that. I haven't had either one since before the wedding! My nails are so short that I hardly bother with manicures, only when I have an event or my cuticles are getting beyond my expertise (there is no excuse in life to have nasty cuticles). But even if it will cost me more money than I have, I'm very excited about it - I love pedicures. Love them. As does my mother, which is why we are going today to get them :)

And why is this costing me more money than I have? Well... I was walking past The Gap yesterday and noticed that they were switching from their summer stuff to the fall stuff... I had to go in and peruse the new styles. And buy a new pair of pants and a shirt. And then I just happened to notice that Banana Republic was having a sale! Ordinarily I never go into Banana Republic because I cannot fit into their pants. They are always too long for me. They could come out with a super duper extra short variety of pants and I guarantee they would be too long for me. But they were having a crazy sale so I had to go in. Of course I tried on a pair of pants that were marked down $50!! (and yet they were still $28) but obviously - way too long. And I know myself too well to know that I wouldn't have brought them to a tailor. So I passed on them, but I did see a very cute little sweater that was also on sale so I grabbed it. And that is the reason as to why I cannot afford my mani/pedi today. But I did get two work shirts and a pair of pants for work. I love buying work clothes because I don't have to feel guilty about buying them. I have to have nice work clothes. I can't be dressed like a shabby nincompoop at work. :)

I have class tonight. I hate grad school. The only thing that keeps me going is the fact that one day I want to be making more money than I currently am making. Grad school is an very good way to accomplish that goal. But I hate it. And I do not have enough words to describe my HATRED of UMass. I no longer care how high their College of Business is rated. I HATE IT. I think I would have been happier at the lower rated Suffolk. The only redeeming quality (as noted in a previous blog - see my Friendster blog) is the new student center. That is awesome. But I hate the faculty and I hate the parking lot and I hate that they spent 400 grand on welcoming the chancellor (I hate the chancellor) and I hate the undergrads and I hate everyone and everything associated with that school. But I'm not alone, all the grad students that I talk to hate the same things. They really should build a separate graduate building. If I win the lottery I am going to donate large sums of money to UMass Boston for them to build a brand new building to house the College of Management with its own new parking garage so no other MBA student has to deal with what I am dealing with.

And that has brought today's installment to an end. As always, have a pleasant tomorrow :)

Andrew swimming the first day... which was really the second day of the honeymoon, but the first day of being in Aruba. We basically dropped off our luggage and went to the beach, but since it was already 5:00 the beach was empty.

Andrew on the sunset cruise... he's just chilling on his boat :)

This is a self portrait we took right before we left the hotel to come home. note how dark Andrew is, and how my face is one giant freckle! :) Gotta love being Irish. ANd I tried my damndest to get a tan.

This was the Aruban sunset from the booze cruise that we took. It was one of the best nights we had in Aruba, thanks in no small part to the Arubaribas.

So that is a sample of the honeymoon pictures. I have over 100, so if you want to see all of them, you have to come over and look at them :)

So as you can see, I have started a new blog. The Friendster blog just wasn't working for me.

The picture to your left is none other than yours truly (obviously). I was testing Blogspot to see if I could upload a really big picture and it would autosize it to fit, and it did. Therefore, this sit fulfills all my blogging needs, and I really wish Myspace would do the same so I could post my professional wedding pictures.

So that is all I have for now, I will return later with more blogs and more pictures :)
