Adventures in toddlerhood

We have entered into a new phase in the Casa de O'G. Elmo and his Muppet friends have been pushed aside (not banished, just no longer loved), Thomas is just sitting where he always was - in 2nd place, and Dora is reigning supreme.

If you aren't acquainted with Dora, here's what you need to know. She is, by far, the most annoying animated character that has even been created. I would rather watch Jar Jar Binks star in his own kids show. She screams everything she says. She doesn't have a normal speaking voice, everything is yelled. And the whole show is repetitive. And the whole show is repetitive. And the whole show is repetitive. I understand that repetition is fantastic for toddlers and it's a large part of what draws them in... but Mama doesn't need to learn by repetition. In fact, it makes Mama want to jump out of a window.

I'm the map!
I'm the map!
He's the map!
He's the map!
I'm the map!

That's Map. It's a good thing they have Map, because they need him to tell them the way on every episode. But he doesn't just tell them, he repeats it ad nauseam. River. T-Rex. Dino Island! River. T-Rex. Dino Island! River. T-Rex. Dino Island! River. T-Rex. Dino Island!

It makes me long for the Elmo's World days. Oh Dorothy - what a great sidekick you were... you never spoke a word.
