doppleganger

Last night Andrew and I went to see The Other Boelyn Girl. It was interesting, if not wholly historically accurate. Though most of the major events that took place in the movie are believed to have taken place in real life. It's so confusing to keep all those Tudors straight. And who ruled when and who was overthrown by siblings and who slept with who. They are confusing bunch. The current Windors are way easier to understand. You have Queen Elizabeth. She is married to Prince Philip, who is the Duke of Edinburg. He can't be King, because he is married to the actual heir. But a female who marries a male heir can be Queen. So... IF Diana had stayed married to Charles and IF she hadn't died, if the Queen ever dies, she would have been Queen. Or, whomever marries William will be Queen. But poor Prince Philip can never be King. Get it? (Interesting fact, Philip changed his name when he got married, but not to Windsor. His children, obviously, carry the surname Windsor) Okay, so Elizabeth and Philip have 4 children, Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward, in that order. Of note - although Anne is the second born, Andrew was second in line to the throne (obviously before William made his debut). Anne, even in today's day was shafted because she's a girl. Even when the monarchy does nothing important, she still falls behind her younger brothers!. Anyway, now we are only concerned with Charles and Andrew because they were #1 heir and #2 heir. Also, their marriages are the most fun to talk about, Charles having married Diana and Andrew having married Sarah Ferguson. Both got divorced. Now Charles is #1 heir, William #2, Harry #3, Andrew #4. Until, of course, William and Harry have children. Then poor Andrew is even further down the line.

Another interesting fact - the youngest child of Elizabeth and Philip - Edward - is currently 7th in line for the throne (before his older sister of course!) and is the only child to not be divorced. His childen, however (who are 8th and 9th in line) are not a Prince and a Princess. Strange, no? Edward is expected to become the Duke of Edinburg and so will his son, but oddly enough they are not a prince or a princess. I don't know why, to be honest.

I did not have to look this information up. But it is all true. Go ahead, look it up.

So in summary: Tudors = confusing. Windsors = not confusing.

And we saw Katie's doppleganger at Chili's last night. I almost had to call Katie and ask if she was sitting across the aisle from me. It was odd. I think Katie might have been cloned. I'm just sayin'

I saw the preview for The Other Boleyn Girl when I went to see Atonement, and immediately went home and ordered the book from Amazon. I finished the entire 660 page book in about a week. (No small feat when there are small feet involved...) I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie.... even though they picked BOTH of my least favorite actresses to star in it. I still highly suggest the book, even if ou did already see the movie.
