Okay folks, you heard it here first. This is something I've been thinking about and going back and forth on for a few weeks now. But it's decided and now I can't take it back. Unless I delete this post and feign deafness if you bring it up in my presence. But assuming that is not going to happen - you've heard it here first.
I am going to run the Falmouth Road Race this year.
I know what you're thinking. "that chubby girl thinks she can run 7 miles? In a row?" Well, no, I can't. But I have bout 7.5 months to get ready for it. I would like to think (hope?) that I am not in such poor shape that I can't get my act together in 7.5 months.
I started today at the gym. I can work out on the elliptical until the cows come home, but that doesn't translate into running/walking. I still can't run or really walk in a brisk pace. So I hopped on the new and improved treadmills and starting walking. A half hour later I was finishing my second mile. Ouch. At least I wasn't jogging, this was a solid walk. Next week I'm going to start the Couch to 5K program (C25K program) which will have me running 3 miles by mid mayish. Then I can start expanding the mileage until I can do the road race.
And if worse comes to worse and I have to walk the last couple of miles, I'll just stop at the yacht club and hang out on the beach until someone comes to get me.
I'll post about my so called training over the next 7 months, so feel free to comment if you have suggestions for me.
