pictures

My mother has really pretty gardens in Falmouth. Obviously they aren't in full bloom in the end of May but she has some spring flowers left and one is starting to bloom (the first two pictures) but there are still some really colorful flowers out. It makes me happy.

The hammock is one of my favorite places to be in the summer. Right now we have a double person one, which means there is a lot of room for just one person! It's fabulous and now that it's worn in a little bit it is sooo comfy

Memorial Day Weekend, Part II

Sunday

We didn't really do much on Sunday, the weather wasn't great. We did a lot of nothing, the details of which bored me in real life, so I won't recount them here. Sunday night, however, was the Govenor's Commissioning at the yacht club. So we all got dressed up and went down to commission the club for the 2007 season. i.e. we have free drinks and apps for a few hours. A good time definately had by all. Again, I was really bad with my camera but I do have a few pictures.

Monday (Meghan's Birthday, Observed)

We went on a pretty long bike ride (we switched the seats so I could actually get on the bike, we'll have to keep switching until we get two good nice cushy seats) and saw two neighborhoods not too far away from my parents house that I had never seen. It was a really nice ride. We also celebrated my birthday today since my actual birthday (tomorrow) I will be at work and in school all day. My parents gave me another setting of china, my brother and sister-in-law gave me a really nice foul weather gear jacket, a baby blue one to replace the bright red one that I had that didn't fit me at all. Andrew spoiled me as usual. I got perfume (Clinique Happy Heart), Cape Cod earrings (I lost one at Filene's while shopping for a dress for Ian and Bree's wedding. A year and a half later I finally got around to asking for a new pair!), a GC to sephora, a D&B clutch, two books, and a lunch date with Andrew! He got me two passes for the commuter rail, and a GC for Chili's and even parking money. :) so on a flex day coming up I'm gonna go into town, meet up with him and spend my money at sephora, go out to lunch, and head home... all for free!

All in all it was a pretty quiet Memorial Day Weekend. But it was a good official start to summer. And I figured out a really cool secret! I'm excited, but it's a secret. I'll let you know later......

Memorial Day Weekend Part I

Memorial Day Weekend 2007

Friday.
I had a vacation day and Andrew took a half day. I picked him up at the Readville train station, we went home, packed up the Explorer (no we didn’t buy a new car, I borrowed my mother’s car for the day) and hit the road. We were flying down the highway until we were 5 miles from the bridge. 5 freaking miles. It took us 45 minutes to go 5 miles. It was an excruciatingly painful 5 miles. But we had both iPods and listened to some new Lincoln Park, some Buffett, and we watched the temperature go from 92 in Canton to 108 right before the bridge. We finally got over the bridge and around the rotary and we were off again. We went straight to Bike Zone in Mashpee where we dropped a lot of money and picked up our newly tuned up bikes (with 4 brake pads each…. And you thought brake pads on cars were expensive!) and went home. As soon as we got everything inside we broke open our new helmets and set off on the bikes. We were only out there for 20 minutes, but the smell of the ocean, the salty sea breeze stinging my nose, the sight of the boats in Vineyard Sound… it just does something to me. I can’t explain it, but it was such a good ride. My seat needs to be lowered, so my back started to hurt which is why we were only out there for a short while. Maybe tomorrow I’ll fix that. I’ll take my camera tomorrow and take some pictures. Tomorrow is also Painting The Room day, which will be an adventure. Tonight was Tape the Room Night, which was really boring and doesn’t warrant any more blog time.

We went to FYC for dinner – it was really nice, but apparently Friday night is old man night. We just had some beer and I had a chicken sandwich. So all in all it was a nice, though slightly boring Friday night. I wish I could tell you tomorrow I’ll have something more interesting to say, but I probably won’t, as it’s Painting Day.

Saturday
We started paining at around 8am. It took about two hours and it came out pretty nicely. When we were all finished, I headed off to the beach for about an hour and a half. While it wasn’t as nice a beach day as I was hoping for (about 70 degrees) I made myself lie there for a little bit. I read and eavesdropped on the two women sitting next to me. They were kinda funny. They were talking about the best way to tan for optimal color while they were chain smoking. Apparently they haven’t heard of “cancer” yet. And to make it better, they were both nurses. Fabulous. Yes, I was sitting at the beach too, but I was wearing 30 sunblock and I was wearing a t-shirt to protect my shoulders and back. And I had a hat on. Because I have heard of cancer. And I didn’t even study nursing in school. Amazing.

So after lunch, we took the bikes out again and we found a conservation land that kinda small and definitely geared more towards walking than bikes, but it was still fun. It’s the most mountain terrain our mountain bikes are going to see for awhile! We didn't do a whole heck of a lot after we got back from our bike ride. We've come to the conclusion that I really do need a new seat on my bike so we are looking into that.

Before dinner we went out on the boat, but we stayed in the little inlets and harbors around us. It was really nice - the sun was setting, we had some appetizers and wine and I got some really great pictures. Unfortunately they are in my internal hardrive in the computer because I had forgotten to put my memory stick back into the computer, so the pictures will have to wait until I go back to Canton and hook the camera up to the loading dock. I will endevor to be better about the pictures tomorrow and Monday.

I think this is it.

I think that (after a year of consideration) I've decided this is my favorite wedding picture. I'm not sure though. I'll let you know definately next year.

Who are you?

I'm back!

I have survived my hardest semester in graduate school. (to date, anyway) I'm not sure how my grades will be, but I am confident that I passed both of them. But I'm back from my self imposed exile in all my blogging glory.

A couple of things have gone down since I have been gone. Firstly, I found a new blog. http://www.blameitonthebabymaker.com/ It's now linked from the list of blogs on the left. I highly recommend it. Go back and read it from the beginning though. One of the posts left me literally crying from laughter. I was at work and Cindy came to ask me a question and she couldn't tell if I was laughing or crying - that's how much I was laughing. So definately give it a try.

What else, what else... my parents bought a condo in Marina Bay! They are selling my childhood home, which saddens me beyond words. I love that house. If you are in the market to live in one of the best neighborhoods in Quincy on a double lot (double lot! in Quincy!) in an big beautiful colonial with a lot of charm (I'll show you the old safe that is built into the basement) then you should buy it. But I will never come visit you, I'm not really sure I'll be able to bring myself to go back to Merrymount for a while once they are gone. But they don't close till October and their new condo is amazing. They are right across from a cute little park and they have on street parking (in addition to their two car garage, this is for guests) which is clutch for those condos in Marina Bay. I really do like the new condo, but I'm still a little emotional about them selling the house where I grew up. I don't have a ton of choice in the matter though.

On a much more sad note, Gilmore Girls was cancelled and the season finale aired while I was away. I cried like a baby, I'm not gonna lie about it. It was a good ending, I would have like to have seen a little more with Luke and Lorelei, but at least it wasn't cheesy. I will definately miss it. But it had a good run and as soon as Season 7 is release I will own all 7 seasons so I can watch it whenever I want!

Work is still absolutely crazy, but it still pays the bills, so enough about that.

The Brown family came out to NE for Brendan's graduation and Andrew and I visited with them and met our future son-in-law Aaron! Of course I forgot my camera, but trust me, he is adorable. I've never seen such big blue eyes on a baby before. I was such a baby hog too. I took him literally out of Andrew's arms twice :) Seeing Ian and Bree was fun too, since it had been almost a year!! Bree and I had a margarita in honor of our birthdays. We're already planning the party for 2011. Consider this your invite for the May 28, 2011 bash.

That's all I have for now, but don't worry. I'm back.

It's not you, its me

We need to talk.

I think it's time we take a break. You're a really great audience, but I just can't do this right now. I don't think you would be interested in my ramblings for the next two weeks anymore than I would be interested in writing them. Maybe we can see after the 21st. but for now.... I'm sorry. I just can't.

Now that I have broken up with you, fear not, Dear Reader. I most definately will be back - but I am taking a mini hiatus until May 22. On May 21, I have two finals and a paper due, and these are not finals you can cram for (for which you can cram, I know, I know). I am under an enormous amount of pressure for both finals and I just don't have time for anything until they are done. If you know me personally and you don't see me until May 22, don't worry. I promise I will resurface then.

Until May 22, have a very pleasant Spring!

I'm not in a good mood.

I really hate my group for Accounting class. Except for one woman, who I actually think is very nice and I have had a few classes with her. But the other three? Cannot stand them. I'm two years ahead of them, but I'm just taking Accting 610 now, because I wisely decided to put off my core classes (CMs, as it were) for awhile so I wouldn't drop out when I took them. I have too much invested in the program now to quit, so my plan did work well. Except for the fact that I have to work with people who are in their first semester. These people haven't written papers in like 5 years since college. They're annoying. They don't know how to check email. They don't know how to communicate. They make me want to take a crowbar to .... well, never mind where the crowbar should end up. They just annoy the crap out of me, and I really hope I never have to ever take a class with any of them again (which hopefully I won't as one of them is actually getting an MSA not an MBA. Though, honestly, if you have to take Accouting 610 you really shoudn't be getting an MSA, but I digress.

I'm actually too annoyed to finish this post. I'll return

It's been awhile, but...

I hardly ever post about Gilmore Girls anymore, but have no fear. I still love it. This week's episode was especially fantastic. For those of you who aren't avid watchers (and why aren't you?) let me sum up the season thus far: Rory is graduating from Yale in a few weeks and is lost about what she wants to do next. Lorelei married and divorced Christopher and is trying to rebuild a relationship with Luke (oh and Lane has twins, Kwan and Steve). So Rory has been rejected from a prestigious internship at the New York Times, passed over a job at ProJo, and the Chicago Sun-Times is not hiring. Basically she's freaking out with no job offers and she didn't apply to grad school (you know if Rory Gilmore was a real person she would have gone straight to grad school so I'm not really buying this whole plot line). So she, like 90% of the Class of 2007 is spazzing. What is she going to do, where is she going to live, will anyone hire her, is her college boyfriend Husband material? It's a scary time in people's lives and other than the fact that she would really be going to grad school at some Ivy League school, it's close enough to real life. Lorelei got drunk and sang "I will always love you" - the Dolly version, not the Whitney version. She started off singing it to Rory, but then Luke walked in. So she sang it to him. Brought tears to my eyes, not gonna lie (not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent). And it kudos to Scott Patterson, he actually pulled it off. There was a Look between them, it was fantastic. (and he looked especially hot in this episode) This episode Will. Not. Be. Deleted. From. My. DVR. (get that Andrew? We're keeping it). It will be forever next to the series finale of The O.C. (and come someone explain to me why Seth's little sister wasn't a flower girl at his wedding? That's heartless. Heartless) Forever until we have to get rid of that particular DVR box anyway. Then of course Logan asked Lorelei for her permission to propose to Rory, but I already read spoilers on that. I'm really interested in if Lorelei and Luke are going to get together by the end of the series, which is in like 3 weeks, unless Alexis Bledel realizes that she will never get other work other than Rory Gilmore because she is terrible and has very bad bangs. But it will end soon, so I might as well accept that fact. Me and the Gilmore Girls, we've been together since the first episode when Rory got into Chilton. "I'm going to be in a Britney Spears video"? Classic.
